Rituals Miracle Glow Cream Highlighter

Rituals Miracle Glow Cream Highlighter

This is the Miracle Glow Cream Highlighter by Rituals. It’s one of those glibbery bouncy gel highlighter thingies. You know, those that behave like jello? It’s so satisfying to touch. It pleases my inner three year old.

Le swatch. I’d call the color rose platine. It has rosy shimmer, but certainly no gold to it, so rose gold would be wrong, but platine alone doesn’t describe the color either. The shimmer is very fine, no glitter to see. Depending on the angle you can see either the shimmer or you can see some of the base color, which is off-white. Therefore this highlighter will not work for everyone unless you are a blending goddess. Because you may be able to blend it out and diffuse the base color – but I am not. It sets pretty quickly and then does not move anymore.

You should also put on enough the first go around – if you try to pat on more it starts lifting. It is really best to just put it on fearlessly and then never touch anymore. 😐 Also not recommended for dry skin – this stuff creates more texture.

I would not recommend this to makeup beginners. Everyone else can play at their own risk.

All Used Up July 2017

All Used Up July 2017

another list of empties, here we go.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Classic: I super hate the smell, like toilet cleaner or something. But quality good. Will buy other scents now.

Two Clinique items, first the airbrush concealer which I already repurchased. Then the mild clarifying lotion, which I would have repurchased, but they changed the formula. It now contains witch hazel. My face does not like witch hazel, so I had to go through the hassle of finding a different product. Boo, Clinique. Don’t fix things that ain’t broken!

Funnily enough my last toner was by Clinique too, then I decided these things were useless and went years without one. Then I realized toners never worked because they had way too much alcohol content. I found Clinique’s mild clarifying lotion which didn’t have any alcohol, but salicylic acid and was nicely acidic. It worked wonders. Of course they had to change it.

Balea Anti-Falten Augencreme Q 10: So far I liked every Balea eyecream I used. Might repurchase at later date.

List of ingredients for eye cream.

And last, two items from Rituals. The Ritual of Dao handcream smells great. Dao is my preferred scent of theirs. However, that’s as good as it gets. As a handcream it feels thick and doesn’t sink in properly. But it doesn’t give the skin any moisture. Will not repurchase or try any other of their lines. Especially since this is only 75ml for about € 11? Nope. Might get a Dao linen spray instead. I also have the room scenter sticks.

And the second item is a sample of their sensitive skin lotion. This is a regular face cream with lots of aloe vera. I used it at night and it was in fact the best skin care item of Rituals I tried. It gave a good amount of moisture and the skin looked fresh the next day. I will not buy a full size, because firstly I have lots of stuff to use up and then I also prefer for my face cream to pack some power in addition to just moisture (like AHA, BHA, …).

Those were my empties of the last month. I think it’s a pretty good amount for a summer month. I don’t know if there will be empties in August, if not I’ll sort through my old makeup and see what needs to be chucked.

All Used Up March & April 2017

All Used Up March & April 2017

Alright, time for another trash post. I have many items almost used up, but only a few I managed to actually empty and throw away lately and those are:

Balea Handcreme Buttermilk & Lemon: My current fav hand cream. Already repurchased. Must be on my fourth bottle now (If I always repurchase the same thing I don’t always put it in those posts because boring).

Jean & Len Shampoo für seidiges Haar: I tried it on a whim and really liked it. It did actually make my hair silky and my scalp was not itchy and dry (something I often have a problem with). However when I went back to repurchase it I couldn’t find it anymore. The whole product line was repackaged and looked different. For now I have some other shampoos to use up but I do plan on going back and finding this one again.

List of ingredients for shampoo.

Rituals Sakura Body Lotion: I had more than one of these. I like the smell and the whipped cream texture is fun to touch. However it does not really do a whole lot for the skin. No moisture. Looking at the list of ingredients (too small to photograph, sorry) it is very back-heavy, meaning it’s mostly silicone and all the advertised stuff like rice etc is listed after Phenoxyethanol (meaning there’s less than one percent in it). So, nice sample, would not buy full size.

s.Oliver Outstanding. Review here. I have nothing to add. Used up as a room spray at work.

Last two items: The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit shower gel: one of my favorite Body Shop scents. Yum. Currently on a shower gel bying ban (which I broke to buy those cursed unicorn shower gels – see my instagram). Should I one day have used up all my backlog I might get this one again.

And a body lotion: Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs. The lotion was actually not half bad, considering it’s mostly there to enhance the perfume. The scent is okay, nothing I would buy for myself, but a nice fresh floral.

And that concludes my empties post for the last two months. I have quite a few things almost used up I wonder how many more weeks they’ll last…

Rituals Haul

Rituals Haul

Rituals is brand from the Netherlands. Lately they’ve been expanding quite a bit, so my hometown is now blessed with a store. Naturally, I had to shop.

Two of those are freebies, though. XD

I always like checking out the perfume sections of these mall shops (like The Body Shop, Lush, L’Occitane). You could find a gem for a good price. The skin care portions of those shops are often overpriced, though.

I picked up the SPF 50 sun protection cream, which includes Titanium Dioxide (mineral filter) as well as a chemical filter. There’s also antioxidants, sadly also a whole lot of perfume components. I know that everything by Rituals is heavily scented but I don’t understand why you have to do it with sun cream. I’ll give this a proper review when I used it up.

Then I got the hand cream in Dao, because I am a hand cream fiend and Dao was the scent I liked best. I got the matching room scent as well (freebie).

The little white tube was the other freebie, the Sensitive Skin Lotion. Again, review will follow when I used it up, but I noticed this one includes a whole lot less perfume compared to the sun cream, so it actually is possible!

The two small glass bottles are the perfumes Eau d’Orient and Nuit a Marrakesh, both EdP. I so love that they offer small 10 ml versions of all perfumes and they come with sprayers! Yes! Nuit d’Orient is a heavy vanilla amber thing, Nuit a Marrakesh smells more like towels in a spa. Many Rituals scents smell very spa like, it’s their thing.

Honestly the best thing about the store is that they always offer* you a free cup of tea when you enter. I do hope they keep that up but I am afraid it was only a store opening thing.

*actually, they’d follow you around with a cup of tea until you finally took it.

This post is not sponsored. I actually bought all of that, except the freebies.

Rituals La Vie En Rose Smooth Coral lip gloss

Rituals La Vie En Rose Smooth Coral lip gloss

Rituals Gloss

Let’s stay on the topic of lip gloss. Isn’t this packaging super cute? This is the La Vie en Rose gloss in Fresh Coral by Rituals…

Rituals Gloss 2

And this is what the tube looks like.

Rituals Gloss 3

It’s one of those squeeze tube lip glosses. That makes it less directional than the kind with seperate applicator but in this case it’s okay. The color is on the sheer side so mistakes aren’t that visible. 😉 I also sometimes use my finger to apply instead, but then you’ve got a sticky finger and gloss is annoying to wash off.

Rituals Gloss 4

Swatch. Fresh Coral is exactly what it claims: a fresh coral. The color gets sheer when applied, so your lip color will shine through. There is golden shimmer in the gloss, which is visible on the lips.

This gloss is a cross between makeup and skin care; there are a few nourishing oils in it. It feels a little sticky on the lips. Lasting power is normal for a gloss: two hours tops. It smells fruity, like grapefruit candy. I highly prefer my glosses scentless. Apart from the smell I think this is a really good gloss; good glossy finish and a slight hint of color.

I wore it a lot this summer. It goes so well with coral clothes and bronzer.

This was my first ever Rituals product. Do you have anything from Rituals?
