All Used Up March & April 2017

All Used Up March & April 2017

Alright, time for another trash post. I have many items almost used up, but only a few I managed to actually empty and throw away lately and those are:

Balea Handcreme Buttermilk & Lemon: My current fav hand cream. Already repurchased. Must be on my fourth bottle now (If I always repurchase the same thing I don’t always put it in those posts because boring).

Jean & Len Shampoo fรผr seidiges Haar: I tried it on a whim and really liked it. It did actually make my hair silky and my scalp was not itchy and dry (something I often have a problem with). However when I went back to repurchase it I couldn’t find it anymore. The whole product line was repackaged and looked different. For now I have some other shampoos to use up but I do plan on going back and finding this one again.

List of ingredients for shampoo.

Rituals Sakura Body Lotion: I had more than one of these. I like the smell and the whipped cream texture is fun to touch. However it does not really do a whole lot for the skin. No moisture. Looking at the list of ingredients (too small to photograph, sorry) it is very back-heavy, meaning it’s mostly silicone and all the advertised stuff like rice etc is listed after Phenoxyethanol (meaning there’s less than one percent in it). So, nice sample, would not buy full size.

s.Oliver Outstanding. Review here. I have nothing to add. Used up as a room spray at work.

Last two items: The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit shower gel: one of my favorite Body Shop scents. Yum. Currently on a shower gel bying ban (which I broke to buy those cursed unicorn shower gels – see my instagram). Should I one day have used up all my backlog I might get this one again.

And a body lotion: Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs. The lotion was actually not half bad, considering it’s mostly there to enhance the perfume. The scent is okay, nothing I would buy for myself, but a nice fresh floral.

And that concludes my empties post for the last two months. I have quite a few things almost used up I wonder how many more weeks they’ll last…

Rituals Haul

Rituals Haul

Rituals is brand from the Netherlands. Lately they’ve been expanding quite a bit, so my hometown is now blessed with a store. Naturally, I had to shop.

Two of those are freebies, though. ๐Ÿ˜„

I always like checking out the perfume sections of these mall shops (like The Body Shop, Lush, L’Occitane). You could find a gem for a good price. The skin care portions of those shops are often overpriced, though.

I picked up the SPF 50 sun protection cream, which includes Titanium Dioxide (mineral filter) as well as a chemical filter. There’s also antioxidants, sadly also a whole lot of perfume components. I know that everything by Rituals is heavily scented but I don’t understand why you have to do it with sun cream. I’ll give this a proper review when I used it up.

Then I got the hand cream in Dao, because I am a hand cream fiend and Dao was the scent I liked best. I got the matching room scent as well (freebie).

The little white tube was the other freebie, the Sensitive Skin Lotion. Again, review will follow when I used it up, but I noticed this one includes a whole lot less perfume compared to the sun cream, so it actually is possible!

The two small glass bottles are the perfumes Eau d’Orient and Nuit a Marrakesh, both EdP. I so love that they offer small 10 ml versions of all perfumes and they come with sprayers! Yes! Nuit d’Orient is a heavy vanilla amber thing, Nuit a Marrakesh smells more like towels in a spa. Many Rituals scents smell very spa like, it’s their thing.

Honestly the best thing about the store is that they always offer* you a free cup of tea when you enter. I do hope they keep that up but I am afraid it was only a store opening thing.

*actually, they’d follow you around with a cup of tea until you finally took it.

This post is not sponsored. I actually bought all of that, except the freebies.

All Used Up Dec 2016

All Used Up Dec 2016

Here’s my last empties of the year 2016:

img_4533

Another Shiseido cream, this time it’s called the Bio-Performance Glow Revival Serum. Now, I liked this one much better than the Ultimmune serum. It’s called a serum, but texture-wise it was pretty much a cream so I used it as such (meaning I didn’t put anything on top). Smell and texture of this remind me of some Kanebo Sensai products I had before, a very cashemere-y smell. The cream contains a little bit of shimmer but it was bearely visible on the face.

It is supposed to help with unevenness, redness and pores. I’m not sure it actually did anything, though. My skin didn’t get worse either, at least.

img_4534

Teeny tiny list of ingredients. Alcohol is seventh on the list. There are irritating fragrance components in it. The real good stuff like Camellia sinensis leaf are at the very bottom. Would not buy a full size.

img_4539

Then I used up my eye makeup remover by Balea. It was so-so. The Body Shop one I had before removed my makeup better. However, this one isn’t like bad or something. Will not repurchase for now, but am not ruling it out either.

Also used up: My brow wax pencil by Sumita. It got too short to hold. What I don’t like is that it has to be constantly sharpened, like I use the same eyebrow stuff every day and while the pencil as a whole has lasted for the better part of a year I had to sharpen it all the time. I really prefer twist up pencils and such for brows. Apart from that it was super easy to apply though. Brow wax or brow gel is a matter of taste. I found that I could feel the wax, while I never feel the gel, but I grew used to it. Wax doesn’t set, so if you mess up your brow, you simply push it back into form and it will hold again. I find it doesn’t last as long as gel, though. Right now I am using up another product and I will not repurchase this pencil because of the sharpening problem.

img_4479

Last product used up last year: Vichy Neovadiol Magistral Elixir. What a name. It’s actually a face oil, but that would have been too easy for a name? This is not a cleansing oil, it’s the kind you leave on. Now, putting oil on your face when you used to be a teen with acne and an oily T-Zone? Weird feeling. When I was a teen everyone would say, no oil, never. And you would lots of alcohol and other irritating stuff and your skin would always be wayyy too dry from all the stuff. Those were the days.

So I used this oil as a last step in my skin care when winter hit and it started to get cold and my skin got dry. And it did help keep my skin plump and whole. It was still weird to put on. I mean the majority of it sank in, yes, but some oil stayed for a while. This was a night time only product for me. It was interesting to test, but I didn’t really like it. I prefer creams. So I would not use a full size, but I do want to point out it was good for dry skin.

img_4482

No list of ingredients, but they were okay. No irritants as far as I could tell.

And that’s it. I haven’t yet used anything up in 2017 so there may or may not be a short post in February. I have a lot of shower gels and such almost used up, so I may even be allowed to buy some this year. 2016 I had a body product no buy. I actually managed to gain some empty space – which I immediately covered, not with shower gels, but with perfume bottles. Sigh.

All Used Up November 2016

All Used Up November 2016

This month went by so quickly! Here we have another list of my empties:

img_4428

Starting on the right this time, this the Douglas Beauty System Multi-Talented Serum. This came to me without a list of ingredients so I can’t tell you what exactly makes it so multi-talented. It is a light liquid with golden shimmer. The shimmer was very subtle, though and did not emphasize pores. My skin looked really good while using this, small pores and no blemishes, if a bit on the dry side.

Next is the Body Shop Shower Gel Cranberry Joy. This is from a past winter collection and I sort of forgot about it until recently when I decided to finally finish it. The gel was bright cherry red and the smell was a sweet, fake smelling cranberry. It was okay but I’m not super sad it was limited or something. I am still on shower gel & body lotion no buy, so I wouldn’t repurchase it even if it was still available.

I am however never on a handcream no buy, as I use up a tube per month. This one here is Balea Kamille Hand & Nagelbalsam. It does smell of chamomille, but not strongly. The balm is very balmy and refuses to sink in quickly. Operating a touch screen after you put this on? Impossible. So while the cream was actually pretty good for my hands,ย  I will not repurchase this one (at least until the next reformulation).

img_4455

Then I used up the Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo Original. This must be my third bottle. I used to use these interchangably with the Batiste ones, but somehow this bottle has not worked well for me at all. I don’t know if I got a dud or if it was reformulated, but I will stick with Batiste now.

img_4457

Shiseido Ultimmune: This is a very thin serum. It comes out white and dries up so quickly, it sometimes dries on your finger before you put it on. This is clearly designed for people who hate heavy textures. Sadly I have to say this did not work for me at all. I started with a clear face (after I used up the Serum shown above) and my skin got gradually worse. It didn’t happen over night, but I’d look worse every few days. First I got small pimples, then darker pores and last I got some real huge pimples. This could be a coincidence, yes, but as I also hated the texture I am not willing to try again.

img_4463

img_4465

And last item, another face cream, Vichy Aqualia Thermal rich cream. In november, the weather started to get really cold and my skin dry. This cream is rich and has no scent. It felt good to use this in the evenings as last step. I wouldn’t have used this underneath makeup, though.

Ingredients.

That’s it! Next empties post will be in the new year already!!!

All Used Up September 2016

All Used Up September 2016

I had quite a few empties last month. Let’s get to it:

img_4313

Douglas Beauty System Perfect Complexion Exfoliating Cream: This is a case of not used up. It’s a washing cream with plastic particles that makes your skin smooth. But the particles are pretty harsh and I’m trying to be gentle with my face. So I had this lying about for a long time, thinking maybe I’ll want to use it someday. I finally admitted it won’t get used up so it had to go.

Biotherm Skin-Best Serum-in-Cream: I remember testing the Serum-in-Oil from another Biotherm line and expecting it to be oily, but it turned out to be a gel texture. Well, this one here on the other hand, is totally oily. It’s not a thick cream texture, you only need a little dab for the whole face, but damn, when you spread it out it feels oily. It sinks in, so it doesn’t make you lookย  bad, but the feeling is unusual. Also I don’t think it did anything for my skin at all. I used it with the matching day cream, which I haven’t used up yet, so it’ll be in the next post, but the pair was pointless if you ask me. Stick with the Blue Therapy serum if you like Biotherm.

img_4326

Long and tiny list of ingredients for Serum-in-Cream.

img_4311

Another Biotherm item: Creme Solaire Dry Touch SPF 30: This product has been reformulated sometime after my purchase so I’ll spare you a long review. Would not have repurchased, too dusty dry.

MAC Prep&Prime CC Cream in Illuminate: The BBCC Hype may be over, but MAC created a solid product here. MAC, I have discovered, not only have great makeup, their skin care is also worth a look. This CC cream I consider a mix of both skin care and makeup. It has SPF 30 and is soothing on the skin, so after washing my face and adding a bit of moisture I go in straight with this one here, adding SPF and a smooth layer to apply my makeup on. It comes in several colors, I have the lavender one. It’s not the perfect color for me, as it doesn’t help with redness, but it makes such an elvish skin tone, lightening up the whole face. Also the other colors showed up too intense on my pale skin. I have repurchased the same color, Illuminate, but maybe one day I’ll check out the yellow color in hopes of it covering my redness…

img_4288

Balea Urea hand cream: good cream, but strong plasticky sweet smell. Will try to find one with lighter scent.

img_4286

Ingredients for hand cream.

img_4307

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo +: really good cream with Salicylic Acid and Capryloyl Salicylic Acid. Used this every evening underneath my cream. Have not repurchased yet as I’ve got some other stuff to use up, but might. It cleanes the pores because of the lipophile acids. Good for acne and rosacea.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blonde: Not my first bottle and won’t stay the last bottle. Batiste gives me more volume than other dry shampoos I’ve tried. And dry shampoo in general gives me way more volume than hairspray (especially natural looking volume), which is why I go through bottle after bottle (and of course, you have to wash less often, too). Only downside to this Batiste one is that the smell is really strong. It’s vanilla which works when I wear vanilla-heavy perfume, but sometimes clashes badly with other perfume. However, I have since tried Batiste Classic and think it smells godawful, so I’ll be going back to Blonde next time.

img_4309

Ingredients of dry shampoo.

That’s it, my empties for last month. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am currently on a no-buy for all skin care, as I’ve way too much of it. Only exception is hand cream, since I use so much of it (neurotic hand washer).

All Used Up July 2016

All Used Up July 2016

While I didn’t blog a lot in July, I did manage to use up quite a few products:

IMG_4102

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future Caplet Serum: As you can see, there are still capsules left in the bottom, but they were impossible to get out. The serum is colorless with white balls floating in it. When you pump them out, they combine into a shimmery white substance. There is a lot of mica in it and it is very visible in the face. Sadly, the mica has exactly the right size to settle in pores and enhance them.

From what I can tell, this serum is very moisturizing and enhances the effect of other products layered on top. So I used this and then put my BHA serum on top. I didn’t use this serum on its own. It didn’t have any adverse effects in my face, but I can’t say if it had any positive effects either. Due to the glitter I wouldn’t buy a full size. I prefer my shimmer to come in form of highlighters, where I can control where they go.

IMG_3692

List of ingredients. Click pic to enlarge.

IMG_4009

Next up: Douglas Beauty System Sea Thalasso Shower Gel. I used to have a matching body lotion, but ran out much sooner. Despite the hints of Sea Thalasso in the name, this does not smell salty or anything. It smells heavenly of neroli. I love it, real good scent. I don’t even know if this is still being sold though. It often takes me so long to use things up because I switch around.

IMG_4008

List of ingredients.

IMG_4003

Biotherm Aquasource Cream: I’m pretty sure I had this before. It’s just a rich cream wth the nice fresh smell that Biotherm often uses. I don’t have the packaging with the ingredients anymore, sorry. The cream is nice, but nothing special.

IMG_3989

La Roche Posay Anthelios AC SPF 30: a mattifying sun protection for the face. Alcohol is fairly high in the list, so I would not buy a full size for myself. When I use alcohol on my skin and then go into the sun I get big angry red spots. The cream proteced well from sun rays, though. At least I didn’t get sunburn. The cream left a visible white cast on me.

IMG_3880

Douglas Naturals face cream day with argan oil: You can tell it’s a “natural” cream by the smell: typical essential oils smell. Nasty if you ask me. The cream was bad, it simply didn’t want to sink in or distribute evenly. I think I also broke out from it (it’s hard to say exactly, but I had been acne free for a long time until that point). Avoid, avoid!

IMG_3912

The Body Shop Honeymania lip balm: This is a huge pot of lip balm and I gotta admit, it went bad before I could use it up, so it had to go. Back when it was still good, it had a lovely smell of fake honey and a waxy texture that protected lips nicely.

IMG_3906

Lush Helping Hands: a hand cream with light texture that sunk it quickly – no waiting time until you can use your smart phone again. ๐Ÿ™‚ For my dry hands it works in summer, but in winter I need something richer. I didn’t love the smell, but it wasn’t bad either.

IMG_3884

Two perfume samples: Simply Jil Sander – a favorite of mine, review here.

And Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfum: Sadly there are many Lempickas with similar names. I think this is the usual one, with the light purple bottle. I like it quite a bit. It smelled of cherry candy and liquorice. It smelled a bit dusty and light at the same time, like a young girl wearing an old dress. Quirky. Sadly, as far as I can tell, Lempicka aren’t sold in stores in Austria anymore and online retailers only have a few leftovers of this particular perfume.

IMG_3876

Lee Stafford Poker Straight for Oily Roots Dry Shampoo: This is the white variant (I had to give away my brown colored one after I went blond, haha). I like this, it works well. The smell could be a bit less intense for me (since I prefer smelling of my chosen perfume and not of my hair products) but the scent itself is okay. I have already repurchased this.

IMG_3860

Louis Widmer 50+ Extra Sun Fluid: This is one of my favorite sun products. The protection factor is high, there is no alcohol in the formula and no perfume. It leaves a slight white cast on the skin, but not very bad. The texture is not mattifying, it left me with a glow. But personally, I like that. Mattifying products often makeย  my skin too dry. The texture is very runny. Biggest downside: only 100 ml of product and not very cheap. Haven’t repurchased so far, but I might because it’s really good. I also tried the SPF 30, but that one had alcohol in it and my skin reacted badly.

IMG_3863

List of ingredients.

And, that’s it. Quite a list for one month. ๐Ÿ™‚

All Used Up May 2016

All Used Up May 2016

My list of last month’s empties is very short, only two items:

IMG_3758

  1. Declare Hautberuhigungscreme lipidreich: a very rich skin cream, soothing, but extremely thick. Good as a last step in skin care for very cold weather to seal the moisture in. Would not advise using for skin with rosacea. It got a little hot underneath that cream. But otherwise very good.

IMG_3760

Ingredients for the skin cream.

IMG_3757

2. The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Butter: The only other item I used up, a big pot of body butter. I bought it for the obnoxious scent, which I love. It oscillates between overly ripe peach and peach candy. Terrible. ๐Ÿ˜„ However, the body butter is way too rich for my taste. I keep forgetting that and buying body butter instad of lotion. The butter is so rich it feels suffocating on skin. I can only use it in cool weather and I still feel like it makes me sweat. It does make the skin soft and smooth, though.

Finally I am making way in my stash of body products, yay. I am now allowed to buy body lotion again!!! Not shower gel though. I’ve still got way too much shower gel.

All Used Up April 2016

All Used Up April 2016

Ah, sorry for the little hiatus there. My schedule keeps being upset and I can’t create when I don’t have a few hours of spare time in one go. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Anyway, here is what I used up the last month, quite a few items:

batiste blonde

Batiste Dry Shampoo light&blonde: this dry shampoo is colored. It comes out a muddy yellow. it totally works for my hair, but I’m not sure if it would work for a platinum blonde. You might end up with yellow patches! It does leave the scalp yellow, which is a bit annoying. The scent is vanilla, which is okay, but I’d highly prefer for hair products in general to be a lot less scented. They often compete with my perfume. But in general this is a good dry shampoo. It also creates volume, something I despereately need. The finish is duller than other dry shampoos might leave you, but I don’t care. Already repurchased.

batiste blonde2

Ingredients for Batiste Dry Shampoo.

IMG_3592

Clarins Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel: This is a case of not used up. I finally admitted to myself that foaming cleansers are really irritating for my skin. This particular product has a really nice smell, just like the matching cream, which I used up and reviewed before. But ultimately it’s not worth it. If you are the sort of person to use foaming cleaners you can find similar ones for less money.

IMG_3600

This is my second empty MAC Mineralize Compact Foundation. It works really well for me. I have not repurchased yet, but I might. I just wish they offered a lighter color than NC15. I think I am really NC13 now.

IMG_3648

Another handcream. I may be on a mission to try all the Balea ones… This is the Totes Meer handcream (dead sea salt). The texture is light and absorbs easily. The scent is light and unoffensive, a bit salty. Despite the light texture, it really helped keeping my skin moisturized. I have now purchased other hand creams that need to be used up, but I would totally repurchase this one. I just wish it came with SPF!

IMG_3650

Ingredients. Click to see full size.

IMG_3659

Absolute Douglas Endless lashes mini mascara: I will spare you the review because not only does this mascara not exist anymore, the whole brand has been discontinued at the end of 2015. I just took a pic of my fingers with the brush, because the brush is really super big. I kept on stabbing myself in the eye, or applying mascara to my brows on accident. ๐Ÿ˜

IMG_3663

MAC brow pencil Lingering: the quality is absolutely top notch. The color is brown, something that works for many people. But I am naturally very ashy and found this a tad too red to repurchase this particular color.

IMG_3694

La Roche Posay Rosaliac UV Legere: This is a cream with niacinamide (also written as nicotinamide, this is a derivate of vitamin B3). It has SPF 15, so first I used it as a day cream. It is tinted green, but too little to actually have effect, it’s just a gimmick. Despite being the legere version (there’s a riche one also) I found this cream very thick. And sadly, it left me looking incredibly greasy. It’s not that I was greasy (aka full of my own sebum) but this cream is just so shiny in not a god way. It was impossible to apply makeup on top. So I started using this as a night cream. And you know, in the long term it really worked. Short term I’d often get red in the face when I applied it. But long term, my acne and rosacea symptoms got so much less. My skin is calmer and better overall. But, because I really don’t need a greasy night cream with SPF I will not repurchase. Instead I am looking for creams with similar ingredients. Sadly I had not taken a pic of them before I threw the packaging away, so I can’t show them to you. Sorry. Basically I am looking for something with niacinamide, no alcohol, no perfume.

IMG_3698

Then I used up a sample of YSL Paris EdT. This is originally from the 80s and you can tell. I has a lot of notes, but I am overwhelmed by the powdery rose. Very rosey, very powdery. It was nice to test, but I’m not going to miss it.

IMG_3700

Last item! I also used up the Kiko kiss balm. This is very pigmented, comparable to a sheer lipstick. The balm had a lot of slick, it glides on very quickly. It made my lips feel good and look lovely. I am not sure if it had any long term benefits. It does come with SPF 15, though, which is good. I would recommend it for those who don’t want to put on lipstick and are looking for a colored balm instead. It’s too slick and too pigmented to use underneath lipstick even if you wiped most of it off again.

Wow, this was a mega post. In case anyone besides me finished reading all that, you deserve a cookie. ๐Ÿ™‚

Woman Day Haul

Woman Day Haul

Tody I have another little haul to show, my haul from the Woman Day Sale:

DSC01569

I picked up the new Moschino release, Fresh Couture EdT,ย  mostly because of the bottle. I’m not usually one to care about bottles, but this one is hilarious!

A makeup thing I really wanted: the Zoeva Rose Golden Palette. My first Zoeva makeup.

Then I stocked up on the MAC CC Cream. I mean if you’re gonna buy it anyway, you might as well do it when you can get it for 20% off. (In the last three years MAC has gotten more and more expensive here. I have my staples that I’ll keep buying but for the rest I’m checking out other brands now.)

I also got another Maybelline lipstick, the Color Sensational matte in 960 Red Sunset.

Then I bought two things that people keep raving about: the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, as a base for colorful makeup, and an EOS lip balm. I picked Strawberry Sorbet, not because I prefer strawberry scent, but because this one came without the bad scent components (like Linalool, Geraniol etc). I’m trying to pay more attention to that now. The reason that I bought Eos at all is, well I needed a lip balm, but I picked Eos because I felt compelled to at least try it as a beauty blogger… “for science” so to say. ๐Ÿ™‚

The last items are the freebies I got: Missoni‘s first perfume release, Missoni EdP, and the new Escada summer scent: Agua del Sol EdT.

Well I hope you guys like perfume reviews because I’m not going to run out of topics any time soon.

As usual, reviews will follow when I had the time to test the stuff.

All Used Up February 2016

All Used Up February 2016

February is short (even if this year is a leap year) and my list of empties for last month is also short:

IMG_3351

Clinique All About Eyes: Clinique’s famous eye cream is really good at moisturizing. I’ve already repurchased it. While this is among Clinique’s lighter eye creams I still find it plenty rich. I only use it at night because I am afraid it might make my eye makeup slip or smudge.

IMG_3354

Secondly I ran out of my beloved men’s shampoo, Nivea Pure Impact. They have overhauled their whole line and this shampoo is not available anymore. Boo! I don’t even know what it was but nothing made my hair look and feel as good as this one. I would have repurchased this until the end of days, but now I am on the search for the perfect shampoo – again!

IMG_3370

Last item: I discovered an older sample of YSL Baby Doll and it was still good, so I sprayed with abandon, thinking I could buy a bottle anytime. Ha! Foiled yet again. While the internet claims it’s still beind produced, every Austrian retailer tells me it is not available anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Baby Doll used to be huge many years ago. I can’t believe they’d discontinue it. It smells of grapefruit and candied rose. I am not the biggest rose fan, but this cute scent totally did it for me. I was recommended “In love again” as a replacement, but while they are similar, Love lacks the candied rose aspect. It’s just not the same.

And this concludes my empties. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am still working on reducing my stash of shower gels and face creams. Of everything else I have usually only one or two items. I’m being good when it comes to skin care. Not so much with makeup, haha.

All Used Up January 2016

All Used Up January 2016

Here’s what I ran out of last month:

IMG_3322

A sample of Chanel Nr 5 Eau Premiere EdP: Eau Premiere is the one and only flanker to Nr 5. It was supposed to catch the attention of younger clientele and be an entryway to Nr 5. And well, I don’t know if it is a hit with the young ones, but it was certainly my introduction to aldehyde-heavy perfumes and what got me into Nr 5. Aldehydes is an acquired taste, if you ask me. At first I was like, what is this? No, thanks. Then I came back to the sample and came back again and the more often I smelled it, the more I liked it. Once you get past the aldehyde top notes, it gets flowery, but in an elegant subtle way, not over the top and loud. And much, much later you get to the base, which is a bit of vanilla and sandalwood. Again, these are elegant and subtle. The whole scent feels like it’s more than the sum of its parts.ย  Along with Nr 5, Eau Premiere has the greatest longevity I have experienced in a perfume. I get about 20 hours of wear time on my skin. The scent is also very calming, I liked using it when I had a headache. It’s also great to fall asleep to.

In a nutshell: I need a full bottle of this!

IMG_3313

Balea Handcreme Pflege & Maske: this is a rich handcream. It says it can be used as a mask, too, but I only applied it the normal way. It has a soft, sweet scent and it is rich. It takes a bit longer to sink in than the normal Balea hand creams. It’s good to use before bed. It worked for my very dry hands.

IMG_3316

List of ingredients for the hand cream. Click to enlarge pic.

IMG_3309

Clinique Moisture Surge gel-creme: This is a face cream with gel texture. Very light, very moisturizing, no perfume. It doesn’t do anything other than give moisture, but it doesn’t promise to do anything else either. I think it’s a great cream for people who want a no fuss regime, and just as good for those who have a many steps regime. I used it both ways, completely on it’s own or as an in between step. (If you layer several face products you would go from lightest to heaviest texture, so this would land somewhere in the middle.) This one was a freebie, but I have bought this cream before and will likely buy it again.

IMG_3297

Last item: Alessandro pedix feet heel rescue balm: This is my second one. It has a nice light mint scent, a rich texture and it does help keep my feet soft.

IMG_3300

Ingredients of the foot cream. Click pic to make it bigger (and hopeflly more readable).

So, these were my empties last month. Since the post took a while to write I can already say the post for next month will include a Clinique eye cream and a Nivea shampoo. ๐Ÿ™‚

All Used Up December 2015

All Used Up December 2015

In December I made my way through my stash and I’m glad to say I produced a couple of empties along the way. Let’s get into it:

IMG_3091

Douglas XSmall Purifying Cleansing Water: I haven’t yet found a mini of my beloved Garnier micellar water, so for travels I tend to buy this one here. It’s almost as good. Already repurchased.

IMG_3096

And here’s the big one: I also emptied a bottle of Garnier micellar water. Already repurchased.

IMG_3098

OPI nail polish remover: this is the green one with acetone. It removes polish quickly and fuss-free and has a good scent. It’s not exactly cheap, though. Might repurchase, but not for now.

IMG_3106

Balea Q10 handcream: This is still a staple of mine, although I still wish it offered a higher SPF than 10.

IMG_3155

Balea belebende Augenpflege: nice moisturizing eye cream. Cheap and perfume free. Might repurchase.

IMG_3240

Rexona Maximum Protection: This is a strong deodorant cream (with aluminium salts, of course). This is so strong I used it only once a week (and normal deo on the other days). Once I accidentally used it twice in a row, and I really noticed it – I was suddenly sweating more on my back and feet, haha. That’s because if the sweat can’t get out in the arm pits, it’ll find other ways to get out. Because what has to get out, has to get out. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (And this is why you don’t have to worry about any sort of clogging or whatever when using deodorant.) Uhm, so, I liked this lots. Less sweat means less stink and it works for a good while, which is why I didn’t have to use it every day. Haven’t repurchased yet, but am planning to.

IMG_3244

Lush Lemony Flutter: This is a good strong cream for hands and nails. I am a huge hand cream junkie, because my skin there is always dry and damages easily. Lemony Flutter is rich and feels great and helped me lots. It needs a while to sink in though. The smell is delicious at first, however after a while the smell changed. I am not sure if the product went bad there at the end. It’s possible, since Lush stuff is fresh made? If you don’t use the tons of hand cream that I do, this might be a problem. Since I didn’t have much left I simply used it up and noticed no bad effects. This is very, very good to my nails and hands and I am planning to get another one.

IMG_3249

A small sample of Marbert 24h Aqua booster: regular moisturizing face cream. Feels good and has a scent that is not too strong. But I don’t feel the need to own a tube.

IMG_3253

And the last one isn’t so much an empty as an “I give up”: Biotherm Homme Total Perfection: I hoped this would lead to clear skin, but all it ever did was give me dry spots. The “male” perfume is also annoying. Are men afraid of buying unscented cream or what? So I chucked it out because it wasn’t worth the dry skin it gave me.

And this concludes the last empties I had in 2015. ๐Ÿ™‚

All Used Up November 2015

All Used Up November 2015

I had no empties in October, so there was no post last month. My empties list for November is also short:

IMG_3029

I used up a sample of Guerlain‘s La Petite Robe Noire EdT. That’s the one with the short, sleeveless dress. How to kep the LPRN bottles apart: The green one with the Tinkerbell dress is the Ma Robe Petales flanker (review). The one with the long black dress is the Couture flanker (review), short dress with sleeves is LPRN EdP (careful, there have been at least two different versions of the EdP!), the bottle with a hat on is the hair mist, and the sleeveless dress is the EdT, which I have here.

Out of the ones I have tested the EdT is my favorite. It has such a delicious cherry scent, sweet but not too sweet. There’s also a note of blackcurrant. Dry down is amber and musk. This is definitely the LPRN you should try if you’ve never smelled one.

Catrica All Matt

Catrice All Matt Anti Shine Paper. Not very glamorous, but functional. Already repurchased.

IMG_3033

Soap&Glory Butter Yourself Body Butter: This is a body butter with AHA. The pot claims you should’t expose your skin to sunlight when you used this; so I used it in spring and finished the pot in fall. Like all Soap&Glory products, this has a strong scent. Too strong if you ask me, but it’s not as bad as it was with the Glow Lotion. The smell is of fig and citrus, very zesty.

I got the whole 300ml pot as a GWP (as did everyone shopping in that week), so I was very sceptical of the quality. But it works very well. It left my skin super soft over night. Due to the AHA I had reddened skin and little bumps after the first use. This normal for a chemical peeling. Since I had never used a chemical peeling on my body at first I used it only once a week. Later I used it more often. The skin got smooth and calluses were reduced.

Two to three weeks after I ran out I really noticed how good it was: I have a lot more ingrown hair and weird bumps in my skin now. So I have learned that using a chemical peeling is just as good for the rest of the body as it is for the face.

Repurchase is likely, even if I don’t like the smell. Maybe I’ll find something similar from a different brand.

And that concludes my short list of November empties. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mรผller Advent Calendar

Mรผller Advent Calendar

Hello, my dears!

I don’t know where the time is going, tomorrow it’ll be December!!!

This year I bought my Advent Calendar at Mรผller’s and it looks like this:

DSC01170

It contains samples of the brands Davidoff, Lancaster, Joop and Jil Sander. I won’t show every door on this blog as I think this is sort of boring for the reader, but you may see reviews of the items over the year.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

All Used Up September 2015

All Used Up September 2015

Another month has gone by already, and while I didn’t have much time to blog, I did produce quite a few empties. So let’s dive right into it:

IMG_2978

Dior BB Creme in 01: out of all BB Creams I tried this was my favorite. It is a tad pink for me (more NW than NC if we use MAC color scheme) but overall so good that I have already bought another one.

IMG_2973

Yves Rocher Monoi de Tahiti Shampoo Shower gel: This is the bright blue one that is both shower gel and shampoo. The monoi smell in this one has a note of bubblegum if you ask me. I found this to be a good shower gel but even more important, a very good shampoo. My hair was all silky and easy to comb. That makes this product a clear winner in my books and I will likely buy it again.

List of ingredients. Click to enlarge.

IMG_2971

Two Chanel products: The Rouge Coco Shine in Chic that I already talked about in my Lipstick Tag post. This was a limited color, but I have received another one as a gift after talking about it on this blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

The other one is my beloved Le Volume mascara in Khaki Bronze, another limited item. Like the name suggests the main draw is the volumising effect. There’s not much lengthening going on and the weight can make the lashes droop a little. But I don’t have a huge problem with my lashes losing their curl so it worked for me. The biggest plus of this mascara was the fact that there was no smudging and no crumbling. Even though it is not waterproof, this was my go-to sure thing mascara. The scond biggest draw was the color, it worked very well for my fair complexion and I wore it to pretty much every look with the exception of black liner looks. Very, very good and while this particular color is not available anymore, I will certainly buy another Le Volume in the future. I just have to use up a couple other mascaras first…

IMG_2952

Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina Eleganza Body Lotion: Eleganza is a flanker to the perfume Signorina and this was the matching body lotion. The smell is flowery and honestly sorta forgettable. The lotion was of good quality, though.

IMG_2930

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Me: a red lip balm. Tbh I didn’t expect the color to come out so strong, but this has about the same color pay off as a sheer lipstick when applied twice. The stain left is very strong, the shine wears off after a half an hour. I was on the fence about the nourishing quality of this balm. First I thought it wasn’t that good, weeks later I thought, no it’s quite good. Maybe it depends on the state of your lips. It doesn’t help with very flaky ones. For now I have enough lip balms and I’ll probably try something else rather than repurchasing this one.

So, this concludes my empties of last month. I’m not sure if I will use up anything in October. I have thrown some stuff out that I wasn’t going to finish when I was moving house, so now I have less stuff lying about, yay! (Mum, who helped me pack, in the background right now: “you have WAY too much stuff!” Pffft.)

All Used Up July & August 2015

All Used Up July & August 2015

Here are the combined empties of the last two months. I think I made some good headway. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_2835

Soap & Glory Glow Lotion: body lotion with lovely shimmer. You can see it applied in this post. I liked the effect and lotion itself very much, but I dislike the smell. It is very strong, a sweety floral fruity scent. I could live with that, but the smell refused to go away. It was interfering with any perfume I applied and the smell lasted until the next shower. This is good if you like the scent and don’t want to wear perfume, but I found it annyoing. Otherwise really good, though.

IMG_2810

A sample of Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Couture: Couture is a flanker to La Petite Robe Noire (LPRN). Couture is the one with the long dress on the bottle. While LPRN is more cherry based, Couture is raspberry based. Lightly applied (one spritz) I got a faint whiff of old candy. With two or three pumps I got the magic out. You see, strongly applied the raspberry really gets through. But it is not real raspberry, it is raspberry candy. I got flashbacks to being a sticky fingered six year old. It smelled just like the really disgusting candy stuff a kid likes. It made me happy, made me think of being a carefree kid. So, yes, this scent has its merits, but it is certainly not elegant like the bottle and name want to make you think. After a couple hours the berry had worn off and left me with a weird sort of old fashioned something (probably rose and moss. I’m not big on rose). So it’s nice, but no must-have. Maybe for the berry-rose lover.

IMG_2875

Catrice All Matt: Blotting paper. Very useful during hot days. Already repurchased.

IMG_2893

Balea Q 10 Anti Aging hand cream: my fav handcream, always repurchasing. You can see the new bottle with a slightly different look on the right. Sadly, the packaging was so changed that the cap is harder to close now, which leads to squeezing the bottle while closing it. Please go back to the old bottle, Balea. Also make the SPF higher, 10 is too low for real anti aging.

IMG_2902

Two items:

Firstly, Lancome Visionnaire serum. I already reviewed it here. While I liked it, if I bought a full size of a Lancome serum, it would be Advanced Genifique again, which seems to be just a tad better to me.

Secondly, Douglas Beauty System Sea Thalasso body lotion. I also have the matching shower gel, but it seems that one isn’t used up yet. Despite the sea thalasso in the name and the fact that this is a bright blue gel-like cream, the smell is straight up neroli. Neroli, neroli, godly neroli. The lotion is light and good for summer. Might not be enough for winter. Am still on a body product no buy, but might repurchase this in the future.

IMG_2906

Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo: I have yet to find a product of this brand that is good for long term use. This one made my hair unbrushable. Boo. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

DSC00898

Rexona Ultra Dry Deo Stick: a staple of mine. works 100% because of aluminium salts (the good stuff, forget about the scare mongering).

Sun Dance Sonnencreme: Sun cream for the face with SPF 30. Very cheap, and not so good. I mean the sun protection was there, yes. But it made me sweat. I don’t mean oily, I mean sweat. Huge beads of water suddenly coming up and not from the heat either. I tested with one side with cream and the other without. So this was completely useless for the face. I used it up on my hands. I know the sun protection itself worked well, because my hands got lighter in color than my belly, which sees sun a lot less often than my hands.

IMG_2925

Dior Eau Sauvage Cologne: I already reviewed it here. Not identical to the newly released “Sauvage”. Very refreshing, especially in summer. Me likey.

used up 2

4711 Acqua Colonia Melissa & Verbena Shower Gel: as name and packaging promise, a very green smelling product. Green and sharp and no weird soapiness. You can really pick out the verbena. I liked this shower gel, but only on hot days. For winter I prefer sweet things. This shower gel goes with the Eau de Cologne of the same line, but I think you could also pair it with Guerlain’s AA Herba Fresca, in case you’re looking for a matching shower gel.

used up1

Last two items: Lancome DreamTone serum 2: I already had a sample of 1 (review). The difference between those is the color: the liquid of 2 is a deeper peach. However, the color does not transfer to the face. It looks like you have nothing on, so the number on the bottle is irrelevant. This serum is so good with pores. SO GOOD! I did not see anything else. I mean, my age spots got lighter, but that started earlier (when I was still using Advanced Genifique) and I attribute it mostly to use of sun cream.

And last item was my other shimmery body lotion by Nougat: Sparkling Body Shimmer (more pics here). It comes with a cherry blossom scent that I don’t like very much, but luckily it goes away fast. The lotion itself is wayyyy too liquid. I kept getting drops everywhere. It also doesn’t get into the skin fast enough, leaving me sticky. The sparkle was nice, almost a bit much, but at least goes with the current trend of strobing. Not very nourishing. Do not recommend, unless it’s for a ten year old in a fairy phase.

And these were all my empties of the summer. I think I’ve been very good. ๐Ÿ˜€

Current Skin Care Routine

Current Skin Care Routine

Over the last year I have rehauled my skin care routine. I was going to say “simplified”, but looking at the amount of products in my picture, maybe not. ๐Ÿ˜„ I have decided to go as gentle as possible, no harsh washing gels, less alcohol and irritating fragrance, more chemical peeling.

Skin 1

Cleansing

This means I cut out all the mechanical peelings and washing gels. Even the supposedly gentle one I used still irritated my skin (you can tell by how right after washing the skin will be tight and dry and about half an hour to an hour later the skin is oilier than before washing). So that left my cleansing milk Toleriane from La Roche Posay (I use this on makeup free skin only, even if it says it can remove makeup, it’s not very good at it); the Micellar Cleanser from Garnier; and for waterproof makeup the dual phase Camomille cleanser from the Body Shop. That one is okay, but I think when it’s used up I’ll go for another brand.

Skin 2

Moisture

Next step after cleansing is to add moisture back. I do not use any toner at the moment. I ran out (years ago, in fact) and realized I didn’t miss it. So I go right to moisture. You probably heard of Korean skin care by now, and how they layer like half a million products over each other. When I read about that I was like ‘that’s too much work’ but these days I do often use quite a few layers as well. In the midle of the pic you see MAC Fix+. You often see it mentioned that people spray this on after makeup, and the description on the bottle says it can be used before and after makeup. A look at the ingredients list tells me it’s made of water and some antioxidants – and nothing else. So while you can apply as last layer, the water will simply evaporate and might leave you drier than before. But when used as first layer and then locked in with heavier products, the moisture stays on the skin and the antioxidants can do their work. So when I use Fix+, I do it immediately on clean skin.

Then I start layering eye cream and lip balm (not pictured). My current eye cream is a cheap one from Balea, it has no bad ingredients (as far as I could tell) and a few antioxidants.

The moisturizer is Clinique Moisture Surge. It’s a light gel that, well it does exactly what the name promises. I will always use this when my skin is visibly dry, but at the moment I don’t use it every day. I use different serums (not pictured) and often don’t put anything on top of those. If I wanted to use both a serum and Moisture Surge I will layer the thicker texture over the lighter one.

Skin 4

Sun Care

The morning routine usually goes like this: cleansing, Fix+ and Sun care on top. When I wear makeup it’s usually MAC CC Cream with SPF 30. It’s the best option if I want to put something on top. My other options are a mattifying sun cream (not pictured) which leaves my skin super dry if I use it more than two days in a row and the two bottles on here: La Roche Posay Rosaliac UV Legere, a great cream with lots of Niacinamide (a form of Vitamin B3 and one of the best skin care ingredients ever) and SPF 15. The cream is slightly green tinted, but applied I don’t really see any difference. However, this one isn’t really good for wearing underneath makeup, as it has a greasy finish. No amount of powder helps here. So sadly despite this being really good for my skin I only wear it when I go makeup-less.

And the last bottle is my all over sun care: Louis Widmer 50+ Extra Sun Fluid. I wanted one without any alcohol or fragrance and there were not too many offerings. This one can be used for the body and face, however when I wear it with makeup I get a similarly shiny finish as with the Rosaliac.

Skin 3

Extras

These are the extra helpers. I don’t use them daily. The small grey bottle is the Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Mask. This is a colorless mask that you can either take off again or wear over night. It gives the skin extra moisture. As this is a smaller size I don’t have a list of the ingredients but I hope they’re not too bad. I use this only when my skin is flaky and often only on the dry parts of my face.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+: Chemical Peeling with Salicylic Acid and Capryloyl Salicylic Acid. I have found that for me it works best used every other day. It makes pores appear smaller (by getting the gunk out) and helps with spots.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast: For any kind of emergency, be it extremely dry and reddenend skin or huge spots or whatever else might happen.

And last is Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions mask, a white clay mask with Salicylic Acid. I use this whenever I feel like it, not too often.

So far the regime works out very well for me. In the future I want to be even more diligent about suncscreen and I’d like to add retinol at some point.

Do you have any tips? What are your go-to ingredients?

All Used Up June 2015

All Used Up June 2015

Hello and welcome to my newest empties post. There are only a few items this month.

Rodial Glam Balm

First I used up the Rodial glam balm lip with SPF 15. This is a rose scented balm. I don’t like rose very much but I grew used to it. The balm itself is extremely good, very nourishing. I was all ready to complain about the amount of product in this review, because the full size only contains 7,5 ml in a tube that could easily hold 15 ml. BUT then this single tube lasted very long; I have used this almost everyday twice since last July. So I am left with no negative points except maybe the price (about 20 โ‚ฌ I think – mine came in a beauty box so I don’t know for sure). Recommendation.

Lancome Advanced Genifique

Then I used up a full size of Lancome‘s Advanced Genifique serum. I already reviewed the samples here. After that I bought the full size of 50 ml. Only when I had the full size I noticed the ingredients list included alcohol. Damn, I really want to minimize alcohol in my skin care. But apart from that, it is so good. For now, I’ll use the samples that have collected in my drawer again and see if I find anything else I like. But I may buy Advanced Genifique again some time (if I get a good discount because wow this is expensive!).

I also like the packaging a lot, with the dropper and the fact that it’s black on top and becomes clear in the bottom. This is useful because you won’t run out unexpectedly. Also I felt like some evil fairy tale queen using this (and the results are quite magical, too). ๐Ÿ˜‰

Used up1

Last two items: My sample of Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cologne ran out. Sobsob. Review is here. I had this in my bag and used it on hot days.

And the other is Douglas XSmall Velvety Body Lotion. Douglas has this skin care range called XSXL. You can guess the sizes. ๐Ÿ˜‰ The small ones are very useful travel sizes. This one is a very regular body lotion, I can’t say much about it, except the scent could be less strong.

Ingredients

Ingredient list of Body Lotion.

And that’s it, my empties of the last month! ๐Ÿ˜€
