Time for silly toe swatches! I put on a single layer of nails inc Brook Street. If it were my hands, I would do two coats, but for the toes I think one is sufficient. It’s a very cute, vibrant color and the quality is perfect. The brush in this mini is great as well.

The color is similar to Essie’s Cute As A Button, but Essie is a tad lighter and more yellow.

Nails inc Victoria

Continuing my dark red trend, here is my Nails inc nail polish in Victoria.

IMG_1607

By the way, Nails inc have three polishes with Victoria in the name, so if you order it, make sure i’s the right one. This dark red is named only “Victoria”, there is a classic red called “Victoria and Albert” and “Queen Victoria Street” is jade-colored!

I wear two coats in this picture, and no top coat. The finish was very glossy on its own, in the pic it looks duller than it is. It is not even and not opaque at two coats, but I don’t usually have the patience for more. It contains no shimmer whatsoever and the finish is jelly-like. I expected it to look more like Essie Wicked, but since it is a lot thinner, it is more cherry-toned.

The application was so-so. It was runny and applied unevenly.

For color comparison, here are my swatches of Essie Wicked and OPI Royal Rajah Ruby:

On the ring finger: OPI Royal Rajah Ruby, all other fingers: Essie Wicked. Both are one-coaters. RRR has slight shimmer, Wicked is pure creme.

Out of these three, my recommendation would be Wicked.

Another month, another box:

IMG_1356

In very cute and festive packaging.

IMG_1357

The inside looks rather… not so festive, all white bottles.

As a goodie, you can see it on the left here, a perfume sample of Moschino Cheap&Chic in Chic Petals. Despite the name, it smells a lot more fruity than floral, which I find refreshing. It’s not citrusy, more like… strawberies? With a little spice.

IMG_1359

Then there’s a full size nail polish by Nails inc. in the color Victoria. It looks black against the background, but it’s a very dark red. Yess, nails inc.!

24h Aqua booster serum by Marbert 10 ml sample. I like serums, I like Marbert. win.

IMG_1361

Renu Lip and eye active lift, 25 ml sample??? I’m a little confused because these are 25 ml, but the Glossybox text says full size contains 15 ml. Anyway it’s a product for both eyes and lips.

Alpienne Propolis Lotion: body lotion sample of 30 ml

Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner

Overall: not as glam as last december*, but useful. I have never heard of Alpienne or Renu and I think this is what Glossybox is for, to show you products you do not know. I’m glad that the two hair products count as one product, since I’m always weary of hair products and having 2 out of 5 be hair products would be annoying. I cannot see any silicones in the shampoo (but the writing is terribly small), there is silicone in the conditioner. I don’t know, I might even use them. I like that there’s quite a big eye product as well, very useful.

Yes, it’s a nice pampering box with the added glamour of a full size nails inc. polish.** I guess I’ll keep my subscription yet 😉

*last december included a perfume by versace, body lotion by lacoste and a full size rouge bunny rouge product!

**boy am I glad the full size is finally NOT a hair product! I am drowning in hair products, but there is no such thing as too much nail polish!

Glossybox Österreich Juli 2013

Glossybox Österreich Juli 2013

Yesterday I got my July box! Another early delivery, huzzah!

001

The design is so lovely. That alone won me over already. I forgot to snap a pic of the paper inside but it is also very lovely.

003

First look.

006

Beauty Bird Fly High! Active Foot Gel: this is a full size of 75 ml. So this is a gel with menthol and eucalyptus and it’s supposed to refresh your feet. I already used it yesterday since it was very hot and that always makes my feet red and warm. It does feel good, no burn or anything, sadly it only feels cool the very first second.

004

Daylong Sunscreen SPF 25: Since last box included an after sun product, I have been waiting for the sunscreen. This is a tester size of 30 ml. It claims to be water resistant. Daylong is a new line, I have only seen it the last few months. It is only sold in pharmacies. I used this yesterday when I was out swimming, and so far I can’t detect any sunburn despite my ridiculously pale skin color. I reapplied it after swimming; water resistant is nice and fine while you’re in the water, but it’s better to reapply afterwards.

005

Emite Makeup Eyelash Curler: So, this is an eyelash curler and it comes with four refill pads. More refills is good I guess, often you get only one. But I have a question to you, my knowledgeable readers: how often do you need to replace your pads? I’m sort of still on the first pad of my first curler.

What strikes me as the most interesting about this particular curler is the price Glossybox lists: 23,60 €. Like, what? Cheap curlers are about 3 or4 €. I own one I considered to be super expensive: it’s the Shiseido one and cost me 19 €. What can this Emite one do that makes it worth that price? Is this Glossybox strategy to list super high prices to make us feel like we get a lot of worth for our box money? ^_^”

009

Next, another full size (200 ml) that almost didn’t fit in the box: got2b strand nixe texturierendes Salz-Spray: I’m not much of a hair styling person, so I have never heard of a salt spray. Usually I’d think salt is what you have to wash out of your hair, not add in after washing it. But alright. It looks fascinating. It is supposed to give you nice beach waves. Sadly my hair is as straight as if I’d used a flat iron every hour of the day and the description already said that for straight hair you should use a curler first. So, I’m not sure how useful this thing is to me. I think it would work nice on a person with wavy hair to make the waves more pronounced.

007

And finally the highlight of the box: nails inc. Brook Street nail polish

This is a mini size of 5 ml. I’m a big fan of nails inc and this is the perfect summery color. Well, mini size, it’s half the size of a normal nails inc polish which is 10 ml. Still, it looks so cute and tiny! Hopefully the small brush will work for me.

So, this was the box. What do you think? The box will be my new jewellery box or something; it’s so pretty. I think the insides are mostly useful, too.

Essie Haul

Essie Haul

I have such bad impulse control. There was this stand; I think it said Essie’s birthday or something? So they had these super cute packages, and every one with different polishes in, but the names weren’t listed on the outside.

005

So cute! After weeding out those that looked like they had Chinchilly or Wicked in, which I already own, I picked up this one.

006

Inside were Essie Blue Rhapsody, Penny Talk and No Place Like Chrome. All of these were in the Mirror Metallics Collection which came out… 2012? 2011? I remember I passed it up back then, but apparently all it needs is cute packaging to short circuit my brain.

008

Comparison: left to right: Essie No place like Chrome, Nails inc Cambridge Terrace, Essie Blue Rhapsody. I guess you don’t actually need all three? The shimmer in the Essie polishes is much finer though, more like foil. No place like Chrome is straight up silver, Blue Rhapsody has a blue tint. I’m not sure the camera picked that up.

nails inc. in cambridge terrace

continuing yesterday’s trend of having no clue what I’m doing and posting completely unedited and unfiltered pics from my phone, here is a picture taken today (thursday) of the polish I put on last saturday. It’s nails inc. london in cambridge terrace with a base of Essie “nourish me” and topcoat of Essie “good to go”. no touch ups were made since saturday.
