All Used Up September 2015

All Used Up September 2015

Another month has gone by already, and while I didn’t have much time to blog, I did produce quite a few empties. So let’s dive right into it:

IMG_2978

Dior BB Creme in 01: out of all BB Creams I tried this was my favorite. It is a tad pink for me (more NW than NC if we use MAC color scheme) but overall so good that I have already bought another one.

IMG_2973

Yves Rocher Monoi de Tahiti Shampoo Shower gel: This is the bright blue one that is both shower gel and shampoo. The monoi smell in this one has a note of bubblegum if you ask me. I found this to be a good shower gel but even more important, a very good shampoo. My hair was all silky and easy to comb. That makes this product a clear winner in my books and I will likely buy it again.

IMG_2971

Two Chanel products: The Rouge Coco Shine in Chic that I already talked about in my Lipstick Tag post. This was a limited color, but I have received another one as a gift after talking about it on this blog. 🙂

The other one is my beloved Le Volume mascara in Khaki Bronze, another limited item. Like the name suggests the main draw is the volumising effect. There’s not much lengthening going on and the weight can make the lashes droop a little. But I don’t have a huge problem with my lashes losing their curl so it worked for me. The biggest plus of this mascara was the fact that there was no smudging and no crumbling. Even though it is not waterproof, this was my go-to sure thing mascara. The scond biggest draw was the color, it worked very well for my fair complexion and I wore it to pretty much every look with the exception of black liner looks. Very, very good and while this particular color is not available anymore, I will certainly buy another Le Volume in the future. I just have to use up a couple other mascaras first…

IMG_2952

Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina Eleganza Body Lotion: Eleganza is a flanker to the perfume Signorina and this was the matching body lotion. The smell is flowery and honestly sorta forgettable. The lotion was of good quality, though.

IMG_2930

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Me: a red lip balm. Tbh I didn’t expect the color to come out so strong, but this has about the same color pay off as a sheer lipstick when applied twice. The stain left is very strong, the shine wears off after a half an hour. I was on the fence about the nourishing quality of this balm. First I thought it wasn’t that good, weeks later I thought, no it’s quite good. Maybe it depends on the state of your lips. It doesn’t help with very flaky ones. For now I have enough lip balms and I’ll probably try something else rather than repurchasing this one.

So, this concludes my empties of last month. I’m not sure if I will use up anything in October. I have thrown some stuff out that I wasn’t going to finish when I was moving house, so now I have less stuff lying about, yay! (Mum, who helped me pack, in the background right now: “you have WAY too much stuff!” Pffft.)

All Used Up July & August 2015

All Used Up July & August 2015

Here are the combined empties of the last two months. I think I made some good headway. 🙂

IMG_2835

Soap & Glory Glow Lotion: body lotion with lovely shimmer. You can see it applied in this post. I liked the effect and lotion itself very much, but I dislike the smell. It is very strong, a sweety floral fruity scent. I could live with that, but the smell refused to go away. It was interfering with any perfume I applied and the smell lasted until the next shower. This is good if you like the scent and don’t want to wear perfume, but I found it annyoing. Otherwise really good, though.

IMG_2810

A sample of Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Couture: Couture is a flanker to La Petite Robe Noire (LPRN). Couture is the one with the long dress on the bottle. While LPRN is more cherry based, Couture is raspberry based. Lightly applied (one spritz) I got a faint whiff of old candy. With two or three pumps I got the magic out. You see, strongly applied the raspberry really gets through. But it is not real raspberry, it is raspberry candy. I got flashbacks to being a sticky fingered six year old. It smelled just like the really disgusting candy stuff a kid likes. It made me happy, made me think of being a carefree kid. So, yes, this scent has its merits, but it is certainly not elegant like the bottle and name want to make you think. After a couple hours the berry had worn off and left me with a weird sort of old fashioned something (probably rose and moss. I’m not big on rose). So it’s nice, but no must-have. Maybe for the berry-rose lover.

IMG_2875

Catrice All Matt: Blotting paper. Very useful during hot days. Already repurchased.

IMG_2893

Balea Q 10 Anti Aging hand cream: my fav handcream, always repurchasing. You can see the new bottle with a slightly different look on the right. Sadly, the packaging was so changed that the cap is harder to close now, which leads to squeezing the bottle while closing it. Please go back to the old bottle, Balea. Also make the SPF higher, 10 is too low for real anti aging.

IMG_2902

Two items:

Firstly, Lancome Visionnaire serum. I already reviewed it here. While I liked it, if I bought a full size of a Lancome serum, it would be Advanced Genifique again, which seems to be just a tad better to me.

Secondly, Douglas Beauty System Sea Thalasso body lotion. I also have the matching shower gel, but it seems that one isn’t used up yet. Despite the sea thalasso in the name and the fact that this is a bright blue gel-like cream, the smell is straight up neroli. Neroli, neroli, godly neroli. The lotion is light and good for summer. Might not be enough for winter. Am still on a body product no buy, but might repurchase this in the future.

IMG_2906

Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo: I have yet to find a product of this brand that is good for long term use. This one made my hair unbrushable. Boo. 😦

DSC00898

Rexona Ultra Dry Deo Stick: a staple of mine. works 100% because of aluminium salts (the good stuff, forget about the scare mongering).

Sun Dance Sonnencreme: Sun cream for the face with SPF 30. Very cheap, and not so good. I mean the sun protection was there, yes. But it made me sweat. I don’t mean oily, I mean sweat. Huge beads of water suddenly coming up and not from the heat either. I tested with one side with cream and the other without. So this was completely useless for the face. I used it up on my hands. I know the sun protection itself worked well, because my hands got lighter in color than my belly, which sees sun a lot less often than my hands.

IMG_2925

Dior Eau Sauvage Cologne: I already reviewed it here. Not identical to the newly released “Sauvage”. Very refreshing, especially in summer. Me likey.

used up 2

4711 Acqua Colonia Melissa & Verbena Shower Gel: as name and packaging promise, a very green smelling product. Green and sharp and no weird soapiness. You can really pick out the verbena. I liked this shower gel, but only on hot days. For winter I prefer sweet things. This shower gel goes with the Eau de Cologne of the same line, but I think you could also pair it with Guerlain’s AA Herba Fresca, in case you’re looking for a matching shower gel.

used up1

Last two items: Lancome DreamTone serum 2: I already had a sample of 1 (review). The difference between those is the color: the liquid of 2 is a deeper peach. However, the color does not transfer to the face. It looks like you have nothing on, so the number on the bottle is irrelevant. This serum is so good with pores. SO GOOD! I did not see anything else. I mean, my age spots got lighter, but that started earlier (when I was still using Advanced Genifique) and I attribute it mostly to use of sun cream.

And last item was my other shimmery body lotion by Nougat: Sparkling Body Shimmer (more pics here). It comes with a cherry blossom scent that I don’t like very much, but luckily it goes away fast. The lotion itself is wayyyy too liquid. I kept getting drops everywhere. It also doesn’t get into the skin fast enough, leaving me sticky. The sparkle was nice, almost a bit much, but at least goes with the current trend of strobing. Not very nourishing. Do not recommend, unless it’s for a ten year old in a fairy phase.

And these were all my empties of the summer. I think I’ve been very good. 😀

All Used Up November 2014

All Used Up November 2014

Hello and welcome to the last used up entry I’ll write in 2014.

IMG_2442

First item is this sample of Armani‘s EdP. What does it smell like? It smells like SUGARSUGARSUGAR. You know, not just sugar; it smells like you got out of the shower and rolled yourself in sprinkling sugar. And that’s it. It’s comepletely one note to me, maybe a little hint of marzipan. There is no darkness, nothing that pulls it down and makes it heavy. Only high top screeching sugar.

At first I did not like it (me and every gourmand ever) but the longer I wore it, the more it grew on me. And then I was craving it. I was sorry to see the sample go. On the other hand I would not want a full bottle. It’d be too much. But for everyone who wants something sweet smelling, without anything that makes it sickeningly rich, this is your perfume. Longevity: lasts all day on me, and longer on clothes.

IMG_2366

Wella enrich volumising shampoo: The longer I used this, the worse my hair got. Harder to brush, harder to wash, too, and it got greasy faster. Yes, it did give volume, but other shampoos do that too. And it felt like it was only volumising at the top, while everything else fell down and stuck together. I don’t know if there was silicone in it, from the way my hair reacted, probably.

Marbert Daily Care eye cream: Easy to apply moisturizing care. This is a completely no frills eye cream, no anti aging care or anything of the sort. It promises nothing but daily moisture and that it gives.

IMG_2386

Catrice Mattifying oil control paper: used especially in the summer to soak up excess sebum.

IMG_2387

And then suddenly it was gone. I have already repurchased it. It now comes in a lilac casing that is not see through and is simply called “all matt” but everything else is the same.

IMG_2423

BM Beauty Beautiful Lashes: came in a beauty box many moons ago. The bottom sticker says “Lash Thickening M001 Black”. Well if there’s one thing this mascara is not, then it’s lash thickening. In fact, before I used this mascara I never understood people who’d use five or more coats of mascara. Well, now I do. This mascara is so subtle, you barely notice it before coat 3. This mascara is neither thickening nor lengthening. What is does do is give nice fluttery, separated lashes without any clumping. Honestly I really liked the subtle effect. However, this mascara is a total vanishing wonder. I don’t know how, because it absolutely does not smear, but somehow after a few hours, there would be a lot less mascara on my lashes. Despite all this it stayed creamy until the end, so it wasn’t that it was dried up either. I don’t know, this is a weird thing and I wouldn’t buy it.

IMG_2451

The Body Shop Honeymania Body Butter: I could only use it now in the cold weather, it’d be too thick otherwise. But now it worked very well, especially on the feet. They were so soft the next day when I put a good helping on before bed. I know it’s supposed to smell like honey but I mostly smell flowers. No honey I know smells like that. But I found it lovely anyway. I still have full sizes of the lip cream and shower gel, so I don’t have to say good bye to this LE scent yet. 🙂

And these were my empties of November. I can’t believe the year is almost over. I guess it’s time for the “looking back” posts.

All used up July & August 2014

All used up July & August 2014

Here are my empties of the last two months:

IMG_2125

I already did a whole post on the CC Lumi Serum by By Terry, but I continued using it afterwards until all four colors were gone, so I’m adding a little: I used either Nr. 1-3 all over my face as primer before foundation, and Nr 4 as a bronzer. When I put these on I used no other moisturizer. On my previous post I said I consider these makeup and not skincare, even though it gets categorized as skincare. I changed my mind on this, my skin seemed to really like it, so it certainly counts as skincare as well. After these samples were open for a while, they started drying up, becoming denser. I liked that, it made the shimmer stronger, but it also gave it some coverage. Now, this seems counterproductive, but when I put the serum all over my face, I patted some extra onto my nose to cover the pores. Highlighter to cover pores??? I know how it sounds, but it worked. Great stuff, highly recommendable.

IMG_2217

Neutrogena Body Balm with Nordic Berry: Leaves a thick, soft film on the skin.

IMG_2218

Sorry for the blurry list of ingredients. I meant to show that it mostly consists of paraffinum liquidum and silicone. Basically, it’s not your skin that is soft afterwards, it’s the film this leaves on you. I’m not usually against silicone in skincare, but it felt a bit much. The fact that I managed to use this up in august is testament to how rainy and cold august was. When it was hot I couldn’t use this balm; it made me sweat.

IMG_2181

SP System Professional Volumize Shampoo: I had two of these. And both of them broke apart after the second use. The cap broke, I mean. The shampoo itself is okay, and it does give volume. But I wouldn’t buy a full size. If they can’t even create small sizes that don’t fall apart, I don’t trust them to get the big sizes right.

IMG_2182

Lancome Renergie Multi-Lift: Anti wrinkle cream with SPF 15. Nice scent, and I could feel my skin tighten. Quite rich, it is for dry skin.

IMG_2184

Garnier Micellar Cleanser: I already repurchased. At the moment my absolute favorite. Better than the Lancome, even and cheaper too. Unlike the Lancome, it does not contain alcohol. It is gentle, but manages to get most makeup off.

IMG_2155

Lancome Dream Tone Skin Corrector: in the shade 1. As the name suggests it is supposed to correct your skin tone and help with dark spots. It comes out peachy and shimmery, a bit like the Clarins Beauty Flash balm, but not so thick. Applied to the skin I could not see any shimmer. I did not see any difference in my age spots, but the sample was small. It helped a little with pores.

IMG_2156

List of ingredients.

It felt pretty good on my skin, but at the moment I wouldn’t buy a full size.

Glossybox Österreich Dezember 2013

Glossybox Österreich Dezember 2013

Another month, another box:

IMG_1356

In very cute and festive packaging.

IMG_1357

The inside looks rather… not so festive, all white bottles.

As a goodie, you can see it on the left here, a perfume sample of Moschino Cheap&Chic in Chic Petals. Despite the name, it smells a lot more fruity than floral, which I find refreshing. It’s not citrusy, more like… strawberies? With a little spice.

IMG_1359

Then there’s a full size nail polish by Nails inc. in the color Victoria. It looks black against the background, but it’s a very dark red. Yess, nails inc.!

IMG_1360

24h Aqua booster serum by Marbert 10 ml sample. I like serums, I like Marbert. win.

IMG_1361

Renu Lip and eye active lift, 25 ml sample??? I’m a little confused because these are 25 ml, but the Glossybox text says full size contains 15 ml. Anyway it’s a product for both eyes and lips.

IMG_1363

Alpienne Propolis Lotion: body lotion sample of 30 ml

IMG_1364

IMG_1365

Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner

Overall: not as glam as last december*, but useful. I have never heard of Alpienne or Renu and I think this is what Glossybox is for, to show you products you do not know. I’m glad that the two hair products count as one product, since I’m always weary of hair products and having 2 out of 5 be hair products would be annoying. I cannot see any silicones in the shampoo (but the writing is terribly small), there is silicone in the conditioner. I don’t know, I might even use them. I like that there’s quite a big eye product as well, very useful.

Yes, it’s a nice pampering box with the added glamour of a full size nails inc. polish.** I guess I’ll keep my subscription yet 😉

*last december included a perfume by versace, body lotion by lacoste and a full size rouge bunny rouge product!

**boy am I glad the full size is finally NOT a hair product! I am drowning in hair products, but there is no such thing as too much nail polish!

Glossybox Men (Österreich)

Glossybox Men (Österreich)

Hello, my name is Dandygal and I ordered a Glossybox Men because I can.

015

I’d like to mention that this stylish grey box came in a bland brown transport box, unlike the normal Glossyboxes, which come in a pink decorated transport package. I just found it noteworthy. Now let’s look at this box, packed to the brim in male scented products:

016

Jean Paul Gaultier “Le male”, tiny sample. This was a fancy packaged extra.

017

3 Wetter Taft Hair Styling Gel Foam: Full size of 150 ml. I’m sorry but whenever I see 3 Wetter Taft I have to think about the annoying ad with model mama Heidi K.: “Die Frisur hält!” Ugh.

018

Paul Mitchell Mitch Double Hitter: is a sulfate free hair shampoo/conditioner with a slightly kinky name imho. It contains a little silicone. Sample size.

019

Eau Thermale Avene Shaving foam for sensitive skin. It’s a men box, it’s gotta have a shaving product, right? Hypoallergen, for sensitive skin, sample size of 50 ml.

020

Biotherm Homme Total Perfector: yes, yes, yes! I may or may not have ordered this box in the hopes of getting a Biotherm Homme product, but you can’t prove it because I’ll never admit it! I consider Biotherm Homme to be really good and while I may be willing to give all the other products in this box to my males, this one is mine! All mine! Sample size of 20 ml. (Review of Biotherm Homme Aqua Power coming in the next “used up” post.)

021

Versace Eros: Look how tiny and cute this perfume is! Oh my! Sample size.

022

Chin Min Sport Spray: It is supposed to help the blood flow to your muscles during your workout. Huh. Sample size.

Overall a pretty good box I’d say. Not something one would need every month, but for a one time box useful. Also I like the color schemes of “men” products a lot. It’s less excitable, more grounded. And I love wearing the occasional male perfume.

Dandygal, over and out.
