All used up January

All used up January

Here are my first empties of the year 2014:

ebelin nail polish remover pads: I liked these and already bought them again, sadly the new ones (in black packaging) are NOT identical to these. While I could highly recommend the one pictured here, the new ones are not good. 😦

Biotherm Blue Therapy Cream SPF 15: I might have mentioned this on the blog before. It’s a good skin cream, I like the cucumber smell, but it’s not like the serum. I recommend the serum, but the normal cream is just a cream at the end of the day.

Korres Mandarin Lip Butter SPF 15 in Pink: Originally everything white here was covered with black writing but it wore off. This gives a soft hint of color on the lips. I wouldn’t buy it again. I got the feeling that I’d apply it, and then my lips were dry again so I put on more and so forth. However, my lips are very dry, it might just be me.

anatomicals you need a blooming shower your nose smells rose body cleanser: anatomicals is all about the snappy names. If you like rose scent, this is your shower gel.

Kamill Reinigungslotion/Cleansing Lotion: this is a 2 in 1 product, both cleansing milk and toner. It took me forever to use up! I’m very torn about it. First off, the smell is awful! Really terrible! And it didn’t wear off either I’d still smell it when I was in bed an hour later. So I thought, well they can’t help it, it’s probably without perfume and just what the stuff smells like. But NO! There is perfume in it, and it’s not the last ingredient either! Someone sat down, cooked up this smell and thought it was okay to put in skin care!!! Apart from the smell, it is also hard to use because it is very runny. I got it all over the bottle and the sink.

On the other hand, this is a cleanser with lactic acid and it is really good on pores. It gets all the gunk off. It can be used to remove makeup (face only) but I needed to go over my face several times and then it was too drying. So it is better to use it on make up less skin.

s-he stylezone powder duo

This is a case of almost used up. I wanted to show you the colors as long as I still could. s-he is a cheap brand that gets sold at dm here. If you’ve seen anything by s-he lately, you will know that their packaging is square and has been for years. That’s how old this powder is! They used to have these duos of eye shadows and also of face powders. I think it is pretty useful to have an all over powder plus a bronzer together. The downside of this one was that the powder was loose and the packaging didn’t close tight enough, so if was impossible to take anywhere.

Finger swatches. The darker color makes a great bronzer for a pale skinned person (I bought the lightest duo of course, there were darker ones as well).

The powder is nowhere near as finely milled as expensive powders. It helped a lot to control my nose shininess, though.

These were my first empties of the new year. I don’t know if anyone even reads these posts but they help me track what I use. 🙂

Glossybox Österreich Februar 2014

Glossybox Österreich Februar 2014

Today I received my Glossybox for the month of February! I feel like I have just posted my review of January, and there’s already another one! Usually Glossyboxes come at the end of the month, but February box is Valentine’s box and they always make sure it comes before the 14th.

So let’s take a look:

They ditched the usual one colored box design for this. Very kissy.

First peek inside. It contains Anatomicals Puffy the Eye Bag Slayer wake up under eye patches.

The backside.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Shine

Eucerin Aquaporin Body Lotion

A Models Own Nail Polish: This does not seem to have a name or number? It is a glitter polish with different sizes and colors of glitter, mostly red.

Emite Make up Micronized Eye Shadow in Nect

Which I immediately used this morning.

It is highly pigmented (none of that sheer wash of color nonsense) and swatches true to pan. It is a very pale slightly peachy color with beautiful multi colored shimmer. The shimmer is not very visible, though. I used it all over my lid. It does not crease (visibly at least) but it fades around the five hour mark.

Alright, that’s it. Apart from the Eucerin lotion all products are full sizes. There’s a definite trend here. Again a full sized hair conditioning product, but at least a new brand, not Gliss Kur or Syoss again. Dear Glossybox, if you insist on the hair products, here’s a new idea: it does not HAVE to be a conditioner. You can add shampoo, dry shampoo, hair spray… ?

Overall, I am happy with this box. It is full of more unusual brands, and there are two decorative products. I think it’s a worthy valentine’s box. The worst thing about this box is – it’s going to take forever until March box. 😦

Glossybox Österreich August 2013

Glossybox Österreich August 2013

Another month, another box! But before I dive into the new box I’d like to add to the last one which had the Emite eye lash curler in it: this is the best eyelash curler I ever had and I never want to use another again!

So what was in the newest box?

Firstly, 20% off on body shop.

10 € off at Nägele&Strubell

Glossybox magazine. I’ve never seen this before. I guess it’s identical to the German one? Anyway, it’s pretty boring.

There was also a Zalando 5 € voucher that I did not take a picture of.

On to the interesting things:

Anatomicals spray misty for me facial spritz. Did not have a facial spray yet, so it might be useful, but I’m a bit anxious about some of the ingredients.

It’s got lavender, witch hazel and peppermint in it (though all of those at the very end of the ingredients, so not very much of it). All of these are potentially irritating. I’ll try it on my arm and see what happens… witch hazel is a good ingredient btw, antibacterial and such, but I always find it too drying.

got2b Öl-la-la, a hair spray with argan oil? I’m not sure what to do with this one. (Argan oil is the very last ingredient in case you’re interested in that sort of thing)

the body shop 100% natural lip roll on in orange: yes, useful. My burt’s bees lip balm was about to run out. I never had a lip roll-on before, I hope it’s not too much of a mess.

The box highlight: Biotherm Aquasource deep serum. The blue therapy serum impressed me a lot, I wonder how this one compares.

Jelly Pong Pong 2in1 eyeliner & eyeshadow: I would have never bought such a 2 in 1 product on my own, but that’s what these boxes are for, right? I liked the jelly pong pong lipstick they sent in a box before very much, so I’ll give it a chance. The color I got is a dark forest green with barely visible shimmer.

Swatch: Two unblended lines and one blended line. Since the color is so dark I don’t think you can tell it’s not black on the eyes. It’s obviously most useful for a smokey eye. When I washed these lines off, they didn’t go off immediately. I didn’t need to wash several times, like I sometimes have to with very long lasting products, but it did last a little. I can’t say anything about wear time on the eyes yet.

Overall, it is a useful box in my opinion. Sure, I keep on accumulating hair styling products, since I don’t really use them and I’m not yet 100% sure about the facial mist, but I think it’s a good box. All products except the Biotherm one are full size by the way. My wish for future boxes would be less full sized products and a little more glamour, though.

Glossybox Österreich Juni 2013

Glossybox Österreich Juni 2013

I received my Glossybox this morning. You never know with Glossybox if they’ll be early or late, it’s a constant source of surprise. So here are the pics and my commentary:

All boxed in. The box was the usual soft pink, but the Glossybox logo is raised instead of simply printed on. Pretty.

Vichy Capital Soleil After sun care: Probably the highlight of this box. This is a tube of 100ml, but the product itself claims to be a sample size. Apparently the full size is 300ml. It is especially for sensitive skin. Since I received the box this morning and spend way too much time in the sun this afternoon, I already used it and I like it a lot. I don’t know if it helps sun stressed skin, but it is certainly moisturizing, not greasy and feels great.

anatomicals you need a blooming shower – your nose smells rose body cleanser: a rose scented shower gel. 150ml. I’m not much of a fan of rose scent, but do I love this packaging? Yes I do! I’m sorry I didn’t snap a pic of the back of it, because it has a funny story and also the slogan “we only want you for your body”.

Dove maximum protection deo cream. It’s one of these 48h antitranspirants. They always creep me out because they claim to protect you even after a shower. I’m like, but I want to be squeaky clean after a shower? Anyway, I swear I own the exact same product with the exact same descriptions on the packaging, only by Rexona. I wonder if they are identical, or if the scent will at least differ. This is a full size product.

Figs&Rouge Lip balm in Coco-Rose: Another packaging love – it has flamingo print! This is a lip balm with a very slight pinkish coloring and sparkle. It didn’t really show up so there is no swatch. The scent claims to be Coco-Rose; luckily it does not smell like that. It doesn’t smell like much at all, and is very moisturizing. It is also all natural, no mineral oil. Also a full size.

Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Shampoo: This is the only obvious sample size in the box, with 50ml. Looking forward to trying it out. There are no silicones in it as far as I can tell, which is interesting because the hair repair description certainly sounds like silicone shampoo.

And that was this months box! It may not be very glam, but I can tell you I will use every product to the last drop. That makes it the most useful box this year, even if the net worth this time around is very low, since most of these are cheap products.
