MAC Lip Pencil Nightmoth

MAC Lip Pencil Nightmoth

MAC Nightmoth

Let’s take a break from the spring pastels for something dark: the MAC Lip Pencil in Nightmoth. Nightmoth isn’t new and it can be found in the regular lineup, no need to rush for an LE. It’s a really dark lip liner and I think that especially with bold and dark colors having lip liners pays off.

Here’s a swatch in the shade:

and this is in direct sunlight (please ignore the stripe, that’s a lipstick swatch I forgot to chop off):

So you could call Nightmoth a brownish dark red or plum color. Nothing violet though. It’s fairly dark on the lips and goes with most dark lippies.

As always I apply the liner all over my lips first, make the outline work and then pat on the lipstick. Some liners can be worn completely on their own, but Nightmoth looks patchy alone. With lipstick though the colors look strong and the staying time is enhanced. I can eat and drink and most of it stays on. As it is with such strong colors, a bit of touch ups in the middle is required, but I got about five hours of wear out of it (and longer with touch ups).

Here’s a lip swatch:

Sorry for the bad quality this was a spontaneous selfie, not a planned pic. Anyway, on the outline I wear only Nightmoth. On the inside I put Kiko Black Cherry, which is a dupe for MAC Cyber. Other lipsticks to wear with Nightmoth could be Smoked Purple or Viva Glam Ariana.

I am a big fan of MAC lip liners and this one is no exception. I experience no feathering (the uneven line is due to the bad pic quality) no smearing. Nightmoth is a must have for goth lyfe. 😉
