As promised, here are the swatches of my six cream eye shadows by Bobbi Brown. Sadly the majority of these are being rotated out of the permanent range sometime this year? 😦
The six colors I own are Ballet Pink (3), Brown Metal (4, metallic), Galaxy (9), Pink Oyster (16, metallic), Velvet Plum (37) and Cool Lilac (38). Let’s take a look at the pots.
Aren’t they pretty? Brown Metal and Galaxy may look similar here, but they look very different on the skin. On to swatches:
In the shade: from top to bottom Ballet Pink, Brown Metal, Galaxy, Pink Oyster, Velvet Plum and Cool Lilac. The two metallic long wear cream shadows (Brown Metal and Pink Oyster) have a lot more sparkle and less color pigment.
In direct sunlight: Ballet Pink, Brown Metal, Galaxy and Pink Oyster. Out of these, Galaxy is my least favorite. It’s still good quality but unlike the others, it creases on me (I must have super creasing eyelids because this is a constant problem even with products where other people say they don’t crease)
In direct sunlight: Galaxy, Pink Oyster, Velvet Plum and Cool Lilac. Out of these my absolute favorite is Velvet Plum. It has this rich, plum color with golden shimmer and it is just ultra gorgeous on the eye. And despite it being a darker color, I get no visible creases with this all day long! It’s a miracle! Should you get only one Bobbi Brown cream eye shadow in your whole life (and since these cost an arm and a leg, you shouldn’t get more) in my opinion it should be Velvet Plum.
All of these are long wear – I’m having a hard time getting these swatches off again and out of all cream shadows I tried so far, these are the best. Sadly they are also the most expensive. Which is a pity because after writing this post, I certainly want more. I’ve been eyeing beach honey for a while…
